NEWSLETTER NO. 82 - November 2010

Current Planning Applications

1. East Barn, Hagbourne Mill Barns, East Hagbourne - P10/W1401. Installation of "Qube" garden room.
2. 40, New Road, East Hagbourne - P10/W11437 (Minor). Change of use of the property from C3 Residential Dwelling to C2 Residential Care Home with two rear extensions.
3. 10, Fieldside, East Hagbourne - P10/W1504. Construction of a three-bedroomed cottage to replace the approved application under reference number P10/W0588.
4. Land at rear of 40, New Road, East Hagbourne - P10/W1523. Erection of 3 bedroom detached house. New access roadway with turning & passing bay.
5. 3, Windsor Crescent, East Hagbourne - P10/E1532/LD. Demolition of existing workshop/storeroom and lean-to utility, and replacement with garage.
6. Land at Didcot Road, Didcot - P10/W1150/RM (Reserved Matters). Phase 1b(i) of the Great Western Park Development consisting of the erection of 220 residential dwellings, associated infrastructure, a section of the developments spine road, temporary bus turning area, temporary pumping station, surface water attenuation pond and adjacent areas of landscape (as amended by information and drawings accompanying letter from Agent dated 13 October 2010).
7. 6, Main Road, East Hagbourne - P10/W1586/LB. Proposed single storey extension and internal alterations to create first floor shower room.
8. Bay Cottage, 16 Main Road, East Hagbourne - P10/W1532. Removal of section of boundary hedge adjacent to main road and replacement with brick retaining wall with piers and close-board fencing with new hedging planted in front.
9. Wilcher Close, East Hagbourne - P10/W1242 (Amended Details). Removal of existing garages and construction of 5 houses on two storeys including 8 parking bays (As clarified by Flood Risk Assessment accompanying Agent's Email dated 22 October 2010).

The Parish Council has held a meeting with the allotment holders and it has been agreed to set up a small committee drawn from those Allotment holders to actively manage the daily operation of the site. The committee will be meeting early in November. Meanwhile there are still a few plots left - if interested contact the Parish Clerk.

Flooding Prevention - Update

A group of volunteers has been working hard over the summer to keep the stream downstream from the Church free of obstructions and control the invasive himalayan balsam. Householders bordering the stream have also helped with their sections of bank, and a group of volunteers tackled the more public areas including Parsonage Lane and downstream from Blewbury Road. A workshop was held by the Environment Agency early in October to help such volunteer groups be more effective and we will use this experience to organise our efforts next year and make sure our efforts are as effective as possible. Oxfordshire County Council are currently carrying out work on the main problem areas along Main Road, and you may see them working around the Village Hall and Parsonage Lane. SODC will also carry our some work in the coming months, continuing with the improvements in the area around Tadley. We welcome new members to join our volunteer group - please contact the Parish Clerk if you can help.
